We moved to Colombia so you don't have to guess.
Moving to Colombia is equal parts the best decision of your life and an absolute bureaucratic headache. This site exists to shortcut the second part.
Why this site exists
When we first started looking into moving here, the information landscape was broken. Half the articles were written by people who'd spent two weeks in Medellín on vacation. The other half were visa consultancies disguised as blogs, trying to funnel us into four-figure service fees for paperwork we could do ourselves for $200.
So we built the resource we wished existed — grounded in actual experience, checked against primary sources, and willing to say when something is hard, expensive, or not worth it.
What we cover
- Visas & residency. Every path from the Migrante M visas to digital nomad, pensionado, and resident status — with the real document list and realistic timelines.
- Cost of living. Quarterly-updated budgets from real receipts across seven cities.
- Cities & neighborhoods. Not just "Medellín is great" — the actual barrios, estratos, and tradeoffs.
- The boring-but-critical stuff. Tax residency, healthcare (EPS vs prepaid), opening a bank account, getting a cédula, importing pets, shipping your life.
Where we are based
Written primarily from Antioquia, with regular reporting trips to Bogotá, the Caribbean coast, and the coffee axis.
How we make money
Transparently: affiliate commissions on services we'd recommend anyway (international health insurance, Spanish schools, money-transfer services), and optional paid guides for people who want everything in one place. We do not take paid placements and we do not fabricate reviews.
If a recommendation on this site feels weirdly enthusiastic about a product, assume we're wrong — and call us out by email.
